Blast from the past
As a kid, I loved the movie " the Goonies". One of the things that I loved the most were the visual effects. I re-watched this movie recently and the special effects hold up amazing. The character Sloth, for instance, was brought to life using extensive makeup and prosthetics, making the film look and feel like that character exists in a way that CGI never can. This attention to detail along with the sets that were made to look realistic made this movie a cultural phenomenon.
This film was made on a budget of just about 19 million (Which adjusted for inflation would be 55 million nowadays) Compared to other blockbusters like End Game which cost about 400 million to make. I miss the days when practical effects were the industry standard, as I feel it is a way more immersive form of creation.
